Staking a claim

While waiting for things to start happening, we took care of a few odds and ends. Most importantly, being able to get mail in this era of COVID-19 when going to a store was fraught with danger.

And right behind, having some places to sit in the open-sided barn that was our only structure (and an amazingly useful one – we hadn’t quite realized the utility of a good barn when we bought the place).

In the COVID-19 spirit, we build a socially distanced picnic table – no benches until later in the summer when cases went down. The one person hammock was also socially distanced, except for those with kids who like to pile on.

With those in place, it was a waiting game for the closed town hall to nevertheless process the paperwork we needed to get started. We were impressed with how responsive the town was under pandemic conditions. Seemed a good sign.
